In a speech delivered during the opening program of the Regional Festival of Talents earlier this afternoon, Dr. Evelyn Fetalvero, Regional Director of Region VIII disclosed her gratitude toward the said event as she believed that it does not only celebrate the exceptional talents and skills of students, but it also plays a substantial role in honing and revitalizing the innate aptitudes and knacks that each student has, while simultaneously giving the region a glimpse and a taste of their distinct respective culture.
The Regional Director stated that competitions such as this one gives students, from elementary to secondary both in public “The festival serves as a powerful platform for learners from public and private elementary and secondary schools, as well as Alternative Learning System, Indigenous People’s Education, Special Needs Education program, and Madrasa Education Program to showcase their best products, services, and performances.” and private schools the power and platform to exhibit their culture, showcase their skills, and commemorate their talents despite their diverse background through a variety of contests.
“This festival provides valuable opportunities for learners to demonstrate their skills and talents,” Fetalvero said.
During her speech, she highlighted that this extravaganza of talents is aligned with the DepEd’s new agenda to resolve education woes which is “Batang Matatag” thereby explicitly showcasing that the learnings accumulated by the students do not just remain in the four-sided classroom but as well applied in real-life, in which, a testament of the quality service that teachers are rendering.
“The 2023 RFOT is aligned with the “Matatag” agenda, symbolizing the profound association between teaching and learning,” the director expressed.
Fetalvero also appealed to and encouraged the students to take this opportunity to foster an environment that champions sportsmanship and camaraderie as she divulged that the essence of this event is to carve a path toward a long-lasting friendship and establish a conforming dimension where everybody can confide and share their unique perspective. Further, she also dismantled the idea that this event is just about gathering accolades, but rather moved the students to enjoy this annual event as she insinuate that this event was made for them to “embrace the joy of learning, the thrill of discovery, and the satisfaction of unleashing their creativity”.
“Embrace every opportunity, embrace the challenges, and let the spirit of innovation guide you to new heights,” said the RD.
RD Fetalvero also applauded the coaches as she anointed them “guiding stars” of the competition as through their ingenious minds, unwavering support, and untiring guidance, they were able to mold and shape students from being a meager little star to a star whose light is insuppressible.
As her speech came to an end, Fetalvero expressed her utmost gratitude to the municipality of Calbiga for their hospitality, efforts, and for graciously accepting the challenge of hosting the Regional Festival of Talents which will transpire for four days under the inspiring theme “Reinforcing 21st Century Learning and Fostering Creative Industries through Talents and Skills Exhibition.”
